seller note ANTIQUE TELESCOPIC BRASS AND METAL BANJO TYPE EAR TRUMPET FROM THE MID 19th CENTURY. THERE IS A NICE TRADEMARK TO THE HANDLE FOR JAMES WOOLLEY & SONS Co. MANCHESTER, WHICH DATES IT AFTER 1858. THE ORIGINAL EARPIECE IS IN SITU. THE DEVICE EXTENDS FROM 8 1/2ins WHEN UNEXTENDED TO 12ins WHEN AT IT'S FULL LENGTH. THE BACK OF THE BANJO IS PLAIN METAL AND THERE IS WEAR AND AGE MARKING TO THIS SIDE, AS SHOWN.
JAMES WOOLLEY WAS ONE OF THE FIRST MEMBERS OF THE PHARMACEUTICAL SOCIETY OF GREAT BRITAIN AND BECAME THE LARGEST EXPORTER OF MEDICAL ITEMS IN THE COUNTRY.
comment I just wanted an ear trumpet labelled Wooley which I do not have.
The banjo looks as thogh it was crush and has been repaired.
